On June 7, the highly anticipated 2024 Annual Conference of the International Association for Applied Econometrics (IAAE) was grandly held at Xiamen University. This event marks the first time the IAAE conference has been hosted in China. Co-organized by the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics at Xiamen University, the School of Economics at Xiamen University, the Research Center for Forecasting Science at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, and the Fundamental Science Center for Econometric Modeling and Economic Policy Research of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the conference is sponsored by Beijing Soz Data Technology Co., Ltd. (EPS Data).
Founded at the University of Cambridge, the IAAE aims to promote econometrics and its applications across various fields of economics, enhancing public understanding of this crucial discipline.
This prestigious academic event, gathering top scholars and industry elites worldwide, saw the participation of distinguished guests such as Marcelle Chauvet, a member of the IAAE Board of Directors, Professor Cheng Hsiao from the University of Southern California, and Professor Whitney Newey from MIT. The opening ceremony featured addresses by Zhang Zongyi, President of Xiamen University, and Zhou Yinggang, Dean of the School of Economics and the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics at Xiamen University. As a leading data service provider in China, EPS Data captivated attendees with its exceptional technological prowess and innovative applications in the field of econometrics.
01. Data-Driven Transformation and Upgrading
In the past, international applied econometrics primarily relied on limited data samples to reveal the patterns and trends behind economic phenomena. With the rapid development of big data technology, data resources have become increasingly abundant and complex, rendering traditional methods insufficient for modern research needs in applied econometrics.
EPS Data, leverages cutting-edge technology to conduct large-scale data collection, storage, processing, and analysis. By presenting data through over 10 types of visualization charts and digital maps, it helps economists and scholars uncover the intrinsic relationships and patterns within economic phenomena. This fully maximizes the richness and diversity of data, discovers valuable information hidden in massive datasets, and provides a more scientific and accurate basis for policy-making and economic decisions.
02. Interdisciplinary and Indicator Integration
In the data-driven era, economic phenomena are intricately linked with other fields such as society, environment, and technology. Applied econometrics requires close collaboration with other disciplines to address complex challenges.
EPS Data has meticulously developed six data platforms: the EPS Data Platform, the China Microeconomic Data Query System, the China Regional Research Data Support Platform, the EPS Jimeng Data Management Platform, the Yangtze River Economic Belt Big Data Platform, and the China Revolutionary Old District Big Data Platform. These platforms, characterized by their vast resources, multidimensional indicators, and efficient search capabilities, provide robust tools for data analysis and decision support in applied econometrics.
With a coverage of over 10 billion data entries, including crucial macroeconomic and microeconomic data, EPS Data offers integrated indicators and supports multiple retrieval methods. This ensures that users can quickly and conveniently access the data they need, significantly enhancing the scope and depth of international applied econometrics research.
03. New Models for a New Era
During the IAAE 2024 Annual Conference banquet, Lei Lei, General Manager of the EPS CMDQS Business Department, delivered a toast. Lei extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their continued support and trust in EPS Data.
Manager Lei emphasized EPS Data's dedication to providing precise and comprehensive data support to global economists. She introduced the company's two flagship products: the EPS Data Platform and the China Microeconomic Data Query System.
